Back in Steam: sounds & senses

9:00am daily from Friday 8 September until Sunday 17 September

Cambridge Museum of Technology, The Old Pumping Station, Cheddars Lane 01223 398650, CB5 8LD

This short film takes a free interpretive approach, capturing the restored steam boiler and engines at Cambridge Museum of Technology – and the actions of the volunteers who run them – with a creative, audio description.

You can view the film here: https://youtu.be/90eny-BRsnY

The primary intention is to engage an online audience in a multi-sensory experience of the steam engines, by exploring industrial heritage in an immersive approach, paced to the sensory rhythm of steam.

The audio defines the distinctive acoustic of the Engine House, unwrapping its smells, atmosphere and textures as another branch of storytelling:
‘Our senses are gateways to the past.’ (OdEuropa Project)
