Have a poke around Open Cambridge this weekend

Culture meets cultural phenomenon this weekend as a new map published by the organisers of Open Cambridge gives Pokemon Go devotees the chance to play their way around the city’s historical highlights.

Open Cambridge, coordinated by the Public Engagement team at the University of Cambridge, began today with events from tours of the new David Attenborough Building and a behind-the-scenes look at the Cambridge Boathouses, to a whistlestop journey through the history of Cambridge market.

This year, an accompanying map shows Pokemon Go players where to spin over 45 Pokéstops and battle in four Gyms to see who can become the ultimate trainer while exploring Open Cambridge events (or on the way to them). View the map at http://www.cam.ac.uk/OpenCambridgeGo

Users can share tips on stocking up on lures and incense or sightings of rare Pokémon on Twitter, using the hashtag #OpenCambridgeGo.

Open Cambridge is part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme. Designed to offer special access to places that are normally closed to the public or charge admission, the initiative provides an annual opportunity for people to discover the local history and heritage of their community.
