Join us for Open Cambridge 2023

From tours and exhibitions to walks and more, submissions for Open Cambridge 2023 are now open!

This is a week-long celebration of our vibrant community, its heritage, history and stories. It will take place from Friday 8 September to Sunday 17 September and promises to be an unforgettable event. Open Cambridge is a unique opportunity for the people of Cambridge and surrounding areas to come together and share their stories. There will be a range of activities, including exhibitions, talks, workshops, and much more!

Running in conjunction with Heritage Open Days, contributors are welcome to programme their event around this year’s HOD theme, Creativity Unwrapped. Contributors are not restricted by this theme, OC has always enjoyed a very eclectic mix of events, which is part of its charm.

Creativity Unwrapped opens up some wonderful opportunities for both live and virtual events. Cambridge has been a hub of brilliant minds for hundreds of years and continues to be a pioneer of world-leading research and exciting new technologies that strive to make our world a better place.

Event proposals are welcome from across the University, including the Colleges, but also from venues and organisations across the city and beyond. Open Cambridge is not just about the University. It is about our communit.

Examples of events include:

  • Tours of gardens, outside spaces and buildings
  • Conversations with community groups, local historians, archivists or curators
  • Welcoming new visitors into your space – Community coffee/lunch, open day
  • Discussions or demonstrations - How to make/create/learn, hidden stories/histories
  • The most fascinating/funny/historical object in a collection
