Churchill College Garden Tour

Churchill College is the National and Commonwealth memorial to Sir Winston Churchill and was built in the 1960s and sites within nearly 50 acres of grounds. The original planting was designed for foliage and form, and we have tried to keep within the spirit of this. The College holds the National Plant Collection of Plants named after Sir Winston Churchill.

Discover the oak and black mulberry trees planted By Sir Winston Churchill in 1959 and the weeping white mulberry tree planted in 2009 by Lady Soames, daughter of Sir Winston Churchill to commemorate 50 years since his original tree plantings.

There are now nearly 1000 trees on site and just over 5 acres of re-wilded/ wildflower meadows. There are also fruit orchards, herbaceous borders, a parterre, an orchid collection, an apiary and sports pitches. The grounds are also home to an impressive collection of 20th century sculptures.
