11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday 20 September
Rock Road Library (meeting outside), 69 Rock Road , CB1 7UG
Due to demand, we are delighted to announce another date for this event: 19 September, 2.30pm-4.30pm. To book: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/in-every-piece-of-land-the-soil-has-a-mem...
Led by artists Eleanor Goulding (of Denman+Gould) and Abi Wheeler, this relaxed session invites you to see and map the landscape in new and creative ways. The drawings made on the walk will contribute to a record of local observation and research about the land before and after the development of area, and will help inform the public artworks planned for the new homes being built on Fanshawe Road.
Together, we will explore
• Alternative ways of mapping
• Observational drawing
• The variety of shapes and patterns found in local flora and fauna
• The natural world of Cherry Hinton
• How art can help us connect with place and memory
Starting outside Rock Road Library, this is an easy, circular walk of approximately 2km with a number of stopping points along the route. Due to the nature of the walk being on public footpaths and pavements, there may be some curbs and uneven surfaces.
This event is open to everyone - no drawing experience is needed, and all materials will be provided. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Bookings can be made via Eventbrite, to secure your free space please register using: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/in-every-piece-of-land-the-soil-has-a-mem...
Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to reserve early to avoid disappointment.
