A heritage tour of the Cledara Abbey Stadium, home to Cambridge United Football Club

1:00pm-3:00pm on Thursday 12 September

Cambridge United Football Club, Abbey Stadium, Newmarket Road, CB5 8LN

Come on you U’s! We’re delighted to be partnering with Cambridge United Football Club to offer a heritage tour of the Cledara Abbey Stadium on Thursday 12 September. You’ll visit the club museum as well as hear a talk about the history of the club which started life as Abbey United way back in 1912.

You'll then be taken on a tour of the stadium. During the tour, visitors will get the chance to see the hospitality lounges and the changing rooms as well as a chance to walk through the tunnel and play manager by taking a seat in the dugouts. You’ll visit the stands and find out some of the surprising history they hold. After this, take a visit to the brand-new megastore.

In October 2023, a new partnership between the university and the football club was announced with the shared ambition of working together to help the wider city and the community, supporters, and current and prospective students. We’re delighted to be able to kick start this partnership as part of Open Cambridge 2024.
