The Lawrence Room, Girton College

2:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday 14 September

Lawrence Room, Girton College Huntingdon Road, CB3 0JG

One of the hidden gems of Cambridge is the Lawrence Room museum set among the quiet lawns and trees of Girton College, where Roman and Anglo-Saxon grave goods discovered on the college site itself sit alongside artefacts from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece donated by college members over the years.

Look into the eyes of the 2,000-year-old portrait mummy, Hermione Grammatike. Study pearlescent Roman glassware and delicate Egyptian amulets and gems. Meet our latest acquisitions, two Chinese deities who will bring prosperity to your home. Find out about a recent excavation in the College grounds, and discover the network of scholars and supporters who brought the collection together.
