The Button End Band perform 17th Century Dance Music

7:30pm-9:00pm on Saturday 9 September

Quaker Meeting House , 12 Jesus Lane , CB5 8BA

The Button End band are a Cambridgeshire group who enjoy playing early music, social and ritual dance tunes, popular ballads, protest songs and contemporary folk. All of it meticulously researched and presented within a social context. They're a lively and entertaining group and you will hear some fine playing on fiddle, guitar, banjo, hurdy gurdy, recorder, piano and melodeon.

The concert will feature English dance music from Playford's Dancing Master first published in 1651 (the time when Quakers started in the United Kingdom). This lively and melodic music gives a fascinating insight into the popular tunes of the day and surprisingly a number of them have lasted in popular culture until the present day.
We will also give a commentary to the tunes we're playing.

The performance is free and open to all with no registration required. Our building has step free access and a lift.
