Tea and Tour of Beth Shalom Reform Synagogue
Beth Shalom Reform Synagogue welcomes everybody to our beautiful purpose-built building on the edge of Midsummer Orchard. The synagogue will be open with an exhibition about Judaism and Jews; and there will be lots of Jewish objects to handle.
Come and learn about Jewish life and festivals; ask questions and enjoy tea and traditional Jewish cakes & biscuits. Why does each of our doors have a tiny scroll attached? What noise does a ram’s horn make if you blow it? What does a sofer do? Our volunteers will be on hand to answer all your questions!
There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the ancient art of writing Torah scrolls and try your hand at writing Hebrew letters; with reeds, parchment, papyrus and quills. Colouring sheets and crayons will be available for children.
There will be tours of our modern, accessible building at 1pm; 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
All welcome.
