9:00am-4:30pm on Sunday 17 September
Westminster College, Madingley Road, CB3 0AA
Opening Westminster College to the public through a series of tours and open access on Sunday 17th September 10.00am until 4.30pm
We will have the Chapel, Library, Assembly Room, Dining Hall, and Gibson Room open, with a member of staff in each one; plus the Lewis Room and Senatus Room open to view.
Our Archivist, Helen Weller, will provide ‘self-guided tour’ and ‘treasure hunt’ leaflets and each key room will have a general information board (A3 size).
The gardens/grounds will be open for people to wander around and see the campus, and if it’s sunny, they are welcome to take their tea and coffee out there.
GUIDED TOURS
There will be 4 guided tours, run by Helen, each approx. 40 minutes long, running at 10.30, 11.30, 2pm and 3pm
The maximum number of people on each guided tour is 25.
REFRESHMENTS
We will be serving tea, coffee, cake, and ploughman’s lunches in the Dining Hall for people to purchase.
People can also buy copies of our books - Sisters of Sinai (roughly £10) and Buick Knox’s History of the College (£3.50).
The main objective of our Open Day is so that the public can see beyond the gates and into Westminster and its history. We will also have some low-key promotional material available: what’s on at Westminster - which will detail events that are open to the public like our Sunday Roasts and Enchanted Cinema evenings;
and about hiring the space for private conferences, events, and weddings. A member of the C&E team will be on hand to answer questions.
